Advanced Practice Palliative Immersion Training

Where Learning Leaves the Classroom and Changes Practice


The APPI Training Program is designed for advanced practice providers seeking to enhance their communication and clinical management skills to better serve patients with complex, advanced illnesses. This evidence-based course is designed for all learner levels. From clinical shadowing in practice settings across the care continuum, to didactics presented by expert faculty, and simulated, clinical encounters, the APPI is the key to deepening your ability to provide excellent supportive care in any practice setting. The APPI welcomes professionals willing to travel to attend. Out of town travelers may request to schedule all clinical shadowing hours the week of March 9.

  • Conferences on March 9-10 and May 4, 2020 are held at the University of Chicago Medical Center
  • Clinical shadowing is available across the Chicagoland area

  • 16 hours of clinical shadowing, scheduled to accommodate trainee/faculty schedules

  • Mindfulness and resilience workshop
  • Simulated patient encounters with live actors and real-time feedback
